No Stone Unturned
No Stone Unturned

When it comes to landscaping, one of the most utilized decorative elements is mulch. Whether you’re a homeowner or landscaper, you know it’s an easy way to prevent weeds, protect plants and simply improve the overall look of the property.

While popular, the option can be time consuming and costly, since the mulch requires touch-ups each year, says Sarah Greiner, outreach coordinator for Conestoga Stone Landscape Supply Yard in Pottstown, Pa. Of course, that doesn’t keep anyone from coming back to mulch every year, but she says people are also finding beautiful alternatives, including decorative stone.

Specialty boulders and pond-less water features are also other elements homeowners and contractors are opting to include in landscape design these days, all options Greiner says Conestoga Stone has happily started to incorporate into their offerings.

“We have expanded from just stone and mulch to specialty masonry products, and palletized stone,” she says. “We’re always looking to grow and expand. But our specialty is natural stone.”

In other words, while you will find a plethora of natural stone in a variety of colors, textures and designs at Conestoga Stone, what you won’t find is anything to do with concrete or pavers—nothing fabricated. What homeowners and contractors alike will also encounter is a friendly face willing to lend a hand in determining the best product for a project.

“We’re not going to recommend something that isn’t appropriate for what they’re looking for in a project,” Greiner says. “Our belief is, if we give them good advice, they’ll come back, and we’ll have a customer for life.”

Family owned and operated by Brian Greiner and Kit Troiler, Conestoga Stone started with one delivery truck in 2013, and now has three delivery trucks available to offer customers same- and next-day delivery of products. The storefront is also fully stocked with a variety of landscaping tools, necessities and options, all of which help to fulfill their mission statement: Our goal is to inspire each other with our diverse products through our knowledgeable staff and vendors.

Among the offerings are firepit kits, which Greiner says are also a big seller these days now that homeowners are spending more time at home. Of course, there are no pavers in the kit, but attractive, quality stones instead that can really help make the pit stand out.

Stone benches have also started to work their way onto the scene, which Greiner says really make a statement in any situation.

“These are solid stone benches,” she explains. “They’re heavy, but they definitely give that elegant accent, and they’re just beautiful.”

While Conestoga Stone does have the resources for any number of unique requests, Greiner says if for some reason they do not carry what the customer is looking for, they will refer the customer to someone who does.

“If they’re looking for something in particular, we will definitely help them find what they are looking for,” she notes.

The landscaping of a home is truly a defining element that can take its curb appeal from ordinary to extraordinary. The experts at Conestoga Stone understand this and have proven, through its years of experience in the industry, that creating that extraordinary is their number one priority.
