Built To Last
Built To Last

Get Decked prioritizes authenticity, and has put it into practice with nearly 40 years of experience. This is no easy feat, as their work requires caring about every project like it is for their own home, constant collaboration with homeowners, and dedication to efficiency and transparency.

House and Home spoke with Mike of Get Decked who started the company immediately after high school in 1985. His carpentry career began as a deck builder on condominiums. Today, he and family produce decks of all types and sizes, as well as accessory features for them like lighting, gazebos and screen rooms.

"Each deck we build is built as if it were our own with the mindset that we are the homeowner; we want to make the experience an enjoyable one. We ask for no money down and want to earn their trust. We take care of all permits both County/Local Townships and HOA application help as well. We treat the property and our customers with the care and respect they deserve," he says.

Despite keeping up with the latest trends in the ever-changing market of home renovations, Get Decked remains true to their old-fashioned craftsmanship and family values. This includes careful attention to detail and cognizance of customer desires for the project and lifestyle needs while working on the project. They also keep everything in-house, from permitting and planning to the final product with no subcontractors and no salespeople.

Get Decked exudes warmth from the get-go, as Mike's sons, daughter, son-in-law and daughter-in-law have worked hard alongside him since childhood. Now adults, they are well-equipped to carry the torch of a company that "truly is all family." Naturally, that family-feel is exhibited toward their customers.

"With Get Decked, having that core of old-fashioned honest, hardworking people – I think it shows our caring and professional approach to our work combined with our nearly 40 years of experience [that has] made us leaders in our trade. Our kids all bring the youth, new mindset and exciting fun tech into the mix and do make it so much fun for all. [They add a] very personal, caring touch," Mike affirms.

There are options to incorporate decorative features like LED lighting, lattice, custom stone, privacy walls, fire pits and so much more. Homeowners' creativity and imagination can run wild with decorative, color and design options – and the team at Get Decked is here to help provide inspiration. Regardless of the deck's visual aspects, they will also assure the utmost functionality.

In addition to incorporating the latest technology and aesthetic trends, Mike has also infused eco-consciousness into his work. Many homeowners take their impact upon the Earth into consideration today, but Mike has been doing it for 19 years by using PVC Decking by AZEK. The company is known for their sustainability in using recycled materials to create premium, low-maintenance products, which Jeminski notes have evolved alongside Get Decked over the years.

"We have come a long way in our abilities to build decks to today's standards. We have lived and learned through our experiences and are excited to share all we have learned over the years of trial and error," he says.

When a client starts the process with Get Decked, Mike makes sure there is no pressure, and that each person who he meets with is equipped with all of the information necessary to proceed. This includes references, contacts, and insurance and licensing information. There is also no money down. From there, the client will experience approximately two to four days of construction, as Get Decked is constantly working hard behind the scenes.

"We do work nights in our shop cutting and assembling items for that job. A lot of prep work in our shop goes into the start of the deck on-site... And although decking is 'seasonal,' people are reaching out earlier and earlier each year," Mike explains. "It obviously gets very busy when the warm weather officially breaks, all the way through the fall. We do build in the winter as well and do offer incentives to keep our crew busy. We are very blessed that it has turned into a year-round business."

Get Decked's experience and extensive knowledge of every part of the process is accompanied by full licensure and an endless supply of satisfied customers. Although craftsmanship is a priority in any home renovation, so is having a team who cares about the people who will benefit from the project. It is exemplified in the decks that they create, because the work is catered to the future enjoyment of the final result.

"We take so much pride and get so excited with every project. We love working together to figure out what deck best fits their vision and budget. Building a deck is a huge investment for both Get Decked and the homeowners," says Mike. "With Get Decked, it is a lifelong commitment. With our warranty, we truly stand behind all we do."
