House and Home spoke with Mike of Get Decked who started the company immediately after high school in 1985. His carpentry career began as a deck builder on condominiums. "We do work nights in our shop cutting and assembling items for that job. A lot of prep work in our shop goes into the start of the deck on-site... And although decking is 'seasonal,' people are reaching out earlier and earlier each year," Mike explains. "It obviously gets very busy when the warm weather officially breaks, all the way through the fall. We do build in the winter as well and do offer incentives to keep our crew busy. We are very blessed that it has turned into a year-round business."
